UC alumni enjoyed a special reception with UCSB Professor and Economics Nobel Laureate Finn Kydland, Chair of the UCSB Department of Economics, Professor Peter Rupert at the Royal Society. Professor Kydland is the Henley Professor of Economics at the University of California, Santa Barbara where he founded the Laboratory for Aggregate Economics and Finance (LAEF). He was a co-recipient of the 2004 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics (shared with Edward C. Prescott), "for their contributions to dynamic macroeconomics: the time consistency of economic policy and the driving forces behind business cycles". Professor Peter Rupert is Chair of the Department of Economics at UCSB. Professor Rupert's areas of specialization include macroeconomics, monetary economics, labor and family economics.
16 November, 2013 - UC EAP Thanksgiving Dinner for Students and Alumni
UC alumni attended the Annual UC Education Abroad Program (EAP) Thanksgiving dinner in London. Over 200 students currently spending a term or the academic year in the UK and Ireland attended this traditional Thanksgiving dinner at the spectacular Gibson Hall. Special guests from California, include UC Vice Provost for Academic Personnel Susan Carlson, and UC EAP Regional Director Melody Knutson, US Embassy as well as UCSB alumnus Matthieu Duncan. The evening included prize announcements for students who participated in photo, blog and video competitions about their study abroad experience.
9 November, 2013- UC Davis Hosted Beer Tasting
All UC alumni were invited to attend the UC Davis hosted guided tour and beer tasting at the Beavertown Brewery in Hackney Wick, London. The tasting was led by Charlie Bamforth, Anheuser Busch Professor of Brewery Science at UC Davis. An optional barbecue of the Duke’s Bar and Restaurant followed the tasting. This was the first time that UC Davis has offered a Beer Tasting in London!
7 November, 2013 - UC Alumni Pub Night in Edinburgh, Scotland
UC alumni were invited to attend our first All-University of California Scottish pub night! This pub night welcomed UC Education Abroad Program (EAP) students studying at the University of Edinburgh and interning in the Scottish Parliament. This year we had 55 students in Scotland, 31 of whom are based in Edinburgh. Many of the students aspire to careers abroad and looked forward to the opportunity to network with UC alumni and professionals as well as hear useful advice on Edinburgh life.

The Haas Alumni London Welcome Dinner took place at The Clarence in Whitehall. Dr. Connson Locke, who is a professor at LSE and attended the London Symposium in June, delivered an interesting and enjoybale talk on leadership. Dr. Locke holds a Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Organisational Behaviour from the University of California, Berkeley and a B.A. in Sociology from Harvard University where she graduated with honours.

3 October, 2013 - UCSB & UCSD 'Welcome to London' Pub Night
UCSB and UCSD Alumni were invited to a pub night to welcome Education Abroad Program (EAP) students to London! Alumni shared some valuable advice with students about life in London and enjoyed the company of other UCSB and UCSD alumni. Alumni and students also participated in a pub quiz testing their knowledge of all things UC!

UCLA Alumni Club UK hosted an exciting night at Jetlag Bar in London for UCLA and Nebraska Alumni to watch their alma mater's face each other on the football field. American football, drinks and delicious appetizers brought alumni together for some friendly competition!
8 September, 2013 - UCLA: A Conversation With Professor Victor Tabbush
UCLA Anderson Adjunct Professor Victor Tabbush has been emotionally connected to Africa since he lived there during the ‘70's. "The continent really got into my blood," said Tabbush. "I love being in Africa. I just feel a tremendous connection with the continent and the people when I'm there. It vitalizes me." UCLA Anderson Alumni were invited to join Prof Victor Tabbush for dinner and an evening of stimulating discussion as he shared his experiences and insight about his work in health care in Africa.
14 July, 2013 - UC Alumni UK Summer Picnic & British 10K
UC Alumni UK invited all alumni to join us for a fabulous day out in Hyde Park. We celebrated the final arrival of Summer and congratulated our team of British 10K UC runners who finished the race at noon that day - having raised money for UC student scholarships! Runners represented from UC Davis, UC San Diego, UC Los Angeles, UC Berkeley and UC Santa Barbara. 23 April, 2013 - Berkeley at the Berkeley
Cal alumni and EAP students studying in the UK celebrated Cal Day by meeting at the iconic Berkeley Hotel in London for cocktails, conversation and networking. The event,More attendees "Berkeley at The Berkeley", will hopefully become an annual Cal Day tradition.

18 April, 2013 - UCSB Alumni Reception, Gallery 27, Mayfair
UCSB Alumni and their guests attended the first European exhibition of Professor Emeritus Peter Meller's work at Gallery 27 in London on April 18, 2013. Legendary London art collector and dealer Mr. Cyril Humphris graciously organized this special reception which was co-sponsored by the UCSB Department of the History of Art and Architecture and the and the Art, Design & Architecture Museum for UCSB alumni and their guests. Current UCSB Art History Professor Robert Williams provided an engaging talk about selected works on display, referring to excerpts from his newly released book entitled, The Zodiac of Wit.
23 March 2013 - Ansel Adams Photography Exhibition
UC Alumni enjoyed a special viewing of the Ansel Adams exhibition, "From the Mountains to the Sea", at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Following the viewing, alumni enjoyed tea in the museum's lovely restaurant 16 West Brasserie. Proceeds from the raffle of Ansel Adams books at the event will benefit the UC Education Abroad Programme Student Scholarship Fund. Thank you to UCSD Alumni UK for organising this event and to all of our attendees!
6 March, 2013 - University Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) – Careers Day, LondonA stimulating Careers Day was held at Winston House in London to support UC students in their investigation of future career paths. UC EAP students currently studying in the UK were invited to this special event organized by the UCEAP London Study Centre and co-sponsored by the UC Trust UK. In addition, the UC Alumni UK Board recruited a number of highly distinguished UC alumni who offered an insightful panel on career paths with advice for students who will soon be seeking their first professional posts. A key theme of the night was networking – with students hearing from alumni that the international perspectives and experience gained as an EAP student will serve them well in an increasingly global job market that requires nimble, creative, resilient and culturally aware professionals. Dinners for 12 Strangers is a global phenomenon and you can be a part of it! For more than 40 years this UCLA tradition has brought alumni, faculty and students from all generations together to enjoy good food and great conversation. An award-winning program, Dinners for 12 Strangers is emulated by hundreds of universities. In 2012, alumni hosted 304 dinners, involving more than 3,400 Bruins. This is the first year the program has come to London - come join us in a central London restaurant for our own take on this Bruin tradition!

9 August 2012 - Bruins in the 2012 London Olympics event at the October Gallery
UCLA alumni and students were invited to celebrate the London Olympics with Valorie Kondos Field (UCLA women's gymnastics head coach), Ann Meyes Drysdale (former basketball player and now sports broadcaster) and Tasha Schwikert (former gymnast, now sports broadcaster). Al Osborner, Associate Dean of UCLA Anderson MC'd the evening, with this event being the official launch of the UCLA Alumni UK Network.
