UC Trust Appoints New Executive Director

The Trustees of the University of California Trust (UK) are delighted to announce the appointment of a new Executive Director, Greta Paa-Kerner, effective March 20, 2023.

Paa-Kerner has worked in leadership roles in business to business and partnership environments at Buckinghamshire New University and the University of East London. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of California, San Diego. Paa-Kerner will replace Matthew Daines who served as part-time director of the Trust since 2008.  Daines will continue to serve UCLA in Europe as the Executive Director of Development in preparation for its next fundraising campaign.

Paa-Kerner looks forward to expanding the footprint of the Trust and increasing the impact of the Trust by developing opportunities for innovation, research, cultural exchange, and business engagement between the UK, Europe and all 10 UC campuses.  “Our role is to curate opportunities for UC alumni, students and academic staff across the UK and Europe,” says Paa-Kerner.  “We support our network of nearly 150,000 alumni, our Education Abroad students and our world-leading academics who want to engage on both sides of the pond. That’s the benefit of being part of the University of California system, you have a network across California and in Europe.” 

The University of California Office of the President (UCOP) founded the University of California Trust (UK) in 1999. The Trust is an international affiliate of the University of California, a limited company and registered British Charity (No. 1075405). Currently, a consortium of campus partners funds the Trust: UCOP, UCLA and UC San Diego.  The Trust helps its campus partners and other campuses of the University of California engage with their alumni and fundraise in the United Kingdom and continental Europe. The Trust also provides financial support for the University of California students to study abroad in Europe.
