Quarterly Featured Funds
The University of California constantly strives to serve society through its research and public service initiatives. These programs not only benefit those who learn and serve at UC campuses, but provide vital contributions to local and global communities within education, medicine, technology, and more. Here are some of the many initiatives you can support at the UC campuses!
On this page, you will find a selection of campus initiatives we have chosen to highlight quarterly.
Support for Ukraine at the UC campuses
On February 24th, 2022, Russian troops began a military invasion of Ukraine, in a major escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict which first began in 2014. This invasion has caused one of the largest refugee crises since World War II. This month we are highlighting UC funds which support refugees and other displaced people and the scholarship of migration to enact policy change.
These funds provide assistance to refugees and research on immigration issues including:- Legal support of refugee cases, contribution to litigation matters, or policy projects
- Research of the new challenges of global migration that affect climate migrants, refugees, and vulnerable and at-risk migrants, and developing research-based action
- Translation of research into policy advice, action and support of immigrant communities
- Support for Ukranian refugees including transportation costs out of Ukraine or from a third country to the U.S., visa-related costs, salary, health insurance, and basic living expenses
- Research on immigrant integration and acculturation, health access and outcomes, refugee policies, and immigration histories in the United States and elsewhere
- Make research and data on immigration and immigrant integration relevant to a variety of audiences, including scholars, journalists, community organisations, government officials, and the general public
